It's Raining...On My Nails?

By behlary · March 13, 2011 · 10 Comments ·

Hihi!

Today's post is a very simple but pretty NOTD. While showering, I looked at my nails and saw that the water droplets looked really pretty against the nail polish I was wearing, and immediately decided to try and recreate that look. Hence today's NOTD. Enjoy!

I really like the 3D effect! Products I used:

The Face Shop Nail Supplement Nail Base Coat
The Face Shop Nail Color in BR803 (2 very thin coats)
The Face Shop Nail Color in WH001 (as top coat and for the little "droplets")
Dotting Tool

Here's a closer look at the color I have on.

It's really very simple, all you have to do is paint your nails as normal, including the top coat. Then use the dotting tool to place globs of clear nail polish onto the nail. Try to make it as random as possible. It's probably a good idea to observe the real droplets for a while before doing this. Then tadaaa! Pretty simple and unusual nails. I really love it! What do you think?

x

How long did this take to dry?

@anonymous it took about 5 minutes for the surface of the droplets to dry. the insides took longer to dry so if you pushed the droplet you could kinda adjust it to how you want it to lean. Actually, my mom touched it before it was dry because she thought it was real water, but since it's clear polish you can't really see any mess ups. overall I would say it took 15 minutes in total to be completely dry, and probably another 5-10 minutes to harden.

CAN U DO THIS OVER ACHRILIC NAILS?

what if you used 'out the door' quick drying top coat polish to create the droplets, would that work too?

@anonymous I'm not 100% sure, but I think it should be fine. Seeking a second opinion might be more useful since I'm still quite a noob. (:

@karkiss711 yup I think that'll work too! (: just any clear polish will do!
